Please Note: HCSD Water Quality
On Monday, April 4, the water at school was discolored. The water pumps had been turned off all weekend due to recent water sensor issues. The sensor has been acting up and the administration felt it necessary to turn the pumps off over the weekend in an effort to sustain workability of the sensor on Monday morning when school would be in session.
Initial use of many water sources throughout the building experienced water discoloration. As many Hammond residents can attest, the visibility of such minerals are not uncommon with the well water sources in this area, especially after system nonuse for a period of time.
Certified school officials test the water each morning using NYS Department of Health guidelines to guarantee safety for all. Also, on the first Wednesday of every month, a representative from the Department of Health visits the school and tests water samples off site in a laboratory. The water here is also chlorinated, abiding by NYS Health Department guidelines in order to eliminate the possibility of contamination.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact school.
Please remember that no skateboards or in-line skates are allowed on school property.
