  • The Every Student Succeeds Act

According to the US Department of Education, "The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015, and represents good news for our nation’s schools. This bipartisan measure reauthorizes the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the nation’s national education law and longstanding commitment to equal opportunity for all students. The new law builds on key areas of progress in recent years, made possible by the efforts of educators, communities, parents, and students across the country."

Read more via the US Department of Education here.

The New York State Education Department is seeking feedback from educators, parents and community members on ESSA. Please share your opinion at a community forum on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 3-5PM at the Educational Services Center, 40 West Main Street in Canton, NY. Visit www.sllboces.org/ESSA for more information, and click here to register for the forum.
